In 2021, I first started getting involved with All Aboard Youth Rowing through my high school. I knew what the idea of rowing was but had never been involved. When starting I gained an interest straight away and joined the club that I now spend a lot of my time at 4 years later.
Every Thursday morning, me and my classmates were out either in the water or in the gym at the club. This is what got me excited to get to the end of the week because I knew I’d always have something to be enthusiastic to do. Through the Youth Rowing scheme I have now competed in 7 national events representing my club – placing 12th in a WJ16 1x, 13th in a WJ16 2x and 8th in a WJ16 4x- at the British Junior Championships 2025. I have also represented the North West 2 years running; 2024 and 2025, in 2024 I raced in a WJ15 2x where I placed 4th and in 2025 I raced in a WJ16 4x- where I placed 6th. As well as racing at these competitions I have also been accepted onto the Diploma in Sports Excellence (DiSE) which is a program to support talented young athletes.
The opportunities that have been given to me throughout my rowing years wouldn’t have been able to happen without All Aboard Youth Rowing because I would have never thought about joining into the sport. Having the chance to go through the Youth Rowing Programme is something I am grateful for.
